      In many parts of the world there is a spiritual and moral vacuum.  Millions of people seem to have no purpose for living, no motivating challenge.  People are restless.  They want a cause.  They want a flag to follow.

    Jesus Christ didn’t call us to be bystanders or spectators.  The word “Christian” actually means “a partisan for Christ.”  It means we have chosen Jesus Christ and we are following him. Partisans are not neutral.

      All through the Bible we are asked to make choices. Adam and Eve chose to rebel against God, and then they chose to try to build their world without God.  Our first parents broke God’s Law and passed on the results of their disobedience to their children, and they have passed on the results to you and me.

    We are all capable of sin, and we all sin.  We were born in sin.  We are sinners by choice.  We are sinners by practice.

    We have to choose.  Jesus said, “Go in through the narrow gate.  The gate to destruction is wide, and the road that leads there is easy to follow.  But the gate to life is very narrow.  The road that leads there is so hard to follow that only a few people find it.”

    Jesus tells us that only a few people are on the narrow road that leads to heaven.  Most of us are on the broad road that leads to judgment, destruction and hell.

      The moment that we receive Jesus Christ, the Spirit of God comes to live in our hearts.

      Christ is the One who makes the change in our lives.

    We are changed by the renewing of our minds.  We act the way we believe.  Follow Christ and find the peace and satisfaction that only he gives.

    Our problems, our emotional upsets, our feelings, our behavior and our goals are rooted in our personal needs in life.  Christ can take charge of our problems, if we let him.

      A Christian denies self -- our own selfish ambitions and our own sinful pleasures.  We take up our cross.

    "If any will come after me, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me."

    What does Jesus mean by that?  He is saying that when we are at school, in our neighborhoods, and at work and share Christ we may be laughed at.  We may be teased.  We may be rejected.  We may have to pay a price.  We have to accept this challenge.

  If you are ready to accept Christ into your life, you can pray this simple prayer of commitment to God.

Dear Jesus,
    Thank you for making me and loving me, even when I've ignored you and gone my own way.  I realize I need you in my life, and I'm sorry for my sins.  I ask you to fogive me.  Thank you for dying on the cross for me.  Please help me to understand it more.  As much as I know how, I want ot follow you from now on.  Please come into my life and make me a new person inside.  I accept your gift of salvation.  Please empower me to grow now as a Christian.

What makes Glade Run special?

Glade Run is a community of believers in Western Pennsylvania who would love to share their community and their faith with you.  Glade Run's members have accepted the the Glade Run Membership Covenant which states

Having received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and being in agreement with Glade Run's statements, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the Glade Run church family.  In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:

1. I will protect the unity of my church
        ...by acting in love toward other members
        ...by refusing to gossip
        ...by following the leaders

2. I will share the responsibility of my church
        ...by praying for its growth
        ...by inviting the unchurched to attend
        ...by warmly welcoming those who visit

3. I will serve the ministry of my church
        ...by discovering my gifts and talents
        ...by being equipped to serve by my pastors
        ...by developing a servant's heart

4. I will support the testimony of my church
        ...by attending faithfully
        ...by living a godly life
        ...by giving regularly
