    The Lighthouse Foundation strives to meet the spiritual and physical needs of its neighbors through a variety of programs.  The following is a partial list and tentative schedule.  Please contact The Lighthouse directly for details.

Your help is needed!

    Volunteers and donations are always welcomed to help The Lighthouse continue to help our community.  Read the list below for ideas on how you can participate in this local mission.  Among the on-going needs are monetary and food and house ware donations as well as volunteers to help do maintenance or serve in the food bank or bookstore.

Lighthouse Programs

Help On Wheels is a program of transportation for the elderly, ill, or disabled.

Meals/Fellowship offers lunches and dinners for senior citizens, stroke survivors, single persons and the
   general community served on different days of the week.

        Singles Supper - Wednesdays 6 p.m.
        Challenge Supper (an opportunity for those who can't afford to eat out to do so) - Thursdays, every
                other (opposite Food Bank) -
        Candlelight Dinners with Christian performers - call for schedule
        Golden Agers (60+ luncheons & field trips) - 1st Thursday each month (2nd if Food Bank, doesn't
                 meet in January & February)
        Second Tuesday Forum (second Tuesday of each month) - luncheon with speakers discussing
                 contemporary issues

Food Pantry is open every other Thursday.  Approximately 4.5 tons of food distributed to needy families.

Priority Two is an interdenominational Christian ministry which helps the unemployed and
    underemployed find jobs they can love.

Christian Literacy & G.P. Literacy features trained tutors who teach reading to all ages.

Gibsonia Area Salvation Army Unit provides emergency food and shelter for transients and victims of
    natural disasters and domestic violence.  Stranded travelers can also receive help.  Local needy persons
    can receive help with utility and rent payments and clothing.

Referral Service offers health, welfare and community referrals.

Emergency Assistance makes available financial help with rent, utilities, food and personal needs for
    needy families unable to be served through the Gibsonia Area Salvation Army Unit or other local
    agencies.

Stroke Survivor Connection Group aids in the recovery of people who have suffered a stroke.

Furniture & Appliance Warehouse supplies good used furniture and appliances to the needy at no cost
    to them.

Home Services, Emergency & Personal Care includes home repairs, baby-sitting, lawn services and odd jobs.

Christian Bookstore offers Bibles and Christian books at a 10% discount.  The store carries
    Christian-oriented books, tapes, cards, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School curriculum, materials
    and church supplies.
    Hours: Mon.-Fri. 10-4, Sat. 10-3, Tues. eve. 7-9

Vacation Bible School Workshop is held in February to inform churches of the new VBS programs
    available.

Food Share is a cooperative food buying program which enables people to purchase $30-40 worth of
    food each month for $14 plus community service.
