India

Inspired by God to serve every generation.

Glade Run has a long history of supporting missions in India, beginning with Emma Dean Anderson.  This has continued with the work of Dr. Abraham and Dr. Clement.

Dr. Clement spoke at the monthly evening prayer service in August 2005, explaining his work in India. He told how the people of India have respect for the American people on the war on terror and, just as Paul went out to the gentiles, we need to continue to pray for the Muslim community that they may see the truth of Jesus.

In the question and answer period, Dr. Clement spent time explaining how to reach out to people from India who are living and working in the USA. "Indian people respond to hospitality - a simple invitation to a cup of coffee or tea. If you want to teach them about Jesus, ask them first about their religion - Hinduism or whatever religion they follow - and ask them specific questions as they tell you their beliefs. When they are finished, they will ask you about Christianity, and will repeat the questions that you asked them - giving you the chance to explain your relationship with a personal God, One who cares and listens to your prayers. Finally, pray for them in their presence. It will have a profound effect."

Kelly Jean Norris worked with Dr. Clement in India in the winter and spring of the year 2000.

To read more about her work as she was there, see the Glory Gazettes: one, two, three, and four.  The following pictures are from her travels.

Dr. Clement at Wedding: I lived and worked with Dr. Clement who is the founder of Sram Ashram, a ministry dedicated to reaching non-believers for the kingdom of God through training individuals and pastors. Dr. Clement, pictured next to me at a wedding with many of our students, was a terrific host and mentor. I respect and support his ministry greatly because I know his heart for the Lord.

Computer Classes: While in India, I taught computer and English classes to over 40 students. These students ranged in age from approximately 14 to 60. After three months, they left the Ashram with a basic knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and other MS office programs. Also, after each two hour session I taught, Dr. Clement lead a one hour Bible study for both the Christian and Hindu students.

Ashram Study Center: This is one of the many Study Centers started by the Sram Ashram. The men and women pictured come weekly to study the Word of God, to participate in fellowship, and to prepare for evangelism.

Indian Church: Churches in India come in all shapes and sizes, as they do here in the USA, but in many of the churches I visited, the women and men sit on the floor on opposite sides of the room. Often, the women cover their heads when they pray, and everyone knees together as they address the Lord.

My time in India wasn’t all hard work. Dr. Clement granted me time to go and see other parts of India. I had a wonderful time with my friend Asha, ridding on elephants, seeing amazing places, and making friends everywhere we went.
