A letter from U.S. Director, Ted Barnet...

September 1998

Dear Faithful Friends,

The world suffers--starvation and disease steal people's lives and make them painful.  Terrorism rips away life and creates fear and anxiety.  War makes victims of the innocent, the ones who watch with fearful eyes as their lives are turned upside down.  How do we, as disciples of Jesus Christ, respond to a suffering world?  How do we love in Jesus' name?

AIM AIR Pilot Jim Streit and other AIM AIR pilots have flown over 30 tons of food, seeds for planting, and medical supplies for several thousand people in Sudan, a land ravaged by years of civil war and drought.  AIM AIR, in partnership with Samaritan's Purse, is providing these essential supplies in Jesus' name.

AIM Surgeon Dick Bransford straightens the limbs of boys and girls so they can walk.  He loves them through his skill and years of experience in Jesus' name.

AIM's TIMO team members leave their jobs, their friends, their culture, and journey to remote locations to immerse themselves into the lives of a people group and love them in Jesus' name.

What these people do shines all the brighter because of why they do it.  To make a person walk is a beautiful thing, but to make him walk because the love of Jesus compels us to do so is all the more beautiful.  To fly supplies to the starving is intrinsically good, but to be an ambassador of a compassionate and all-caring God at the same time makes it great.

As Christians, Jesus' love flows through us.  As we surrender ourselves to him, he does the loving, he does the responding.  It is such a great priviledge to be vessels of his love; and though we live in a suffering world, we live in a world that is full of opportunities to love and to care in Jesus' name.
